Default Dash cam

Did someone already install a dash cam on the 2018 Q5?

If so, how did you route the power cable from the dash cam?

In '15 SQ5, I went across to right side tucking wire up under headliner. At top corner, tucked it into joint of windshield side pillar cover and headliner. Went around to outside of side pillar cover and down behind rubber weather stripping to bottom and across under the glove box and along console and into USB adapter in cigarette lighter. Give it a try!

I have not received the Q5 yet. However, when I was at the dealership, I checked the gap of the headliner near the windshield with my hand. There was something blocked behind the headliner (something like metal), and it was no way to tuck the wire into the headliner and routed it to the A-pillar. In other word, the wire needed to be exposed at the headliner location, then the wire could be hide under the A-pillar and etc.

Can someone with the new Q5 confirm whether this is true or not?

Note this happens in the 2018 Q5, the previous years of the Q5 may not have this problem.

Definitely couldn't tuck the wire in. It seals pretty tight. I gave up after a few minutes.

I am thinking whether there are screws near the headliner to loosen a little bit so that the wire can be tucked in.

I have not received the car yet, therefore, I cannot check in details but I need to prepare the information so that I can the install the dash cam after the car arrived.

If not a dash cam wire then one for a Radar Detector. Surely someone has installed one or the other!
