Intermittent hard steering
My 2013 Q5 with 85K, has started to have hard steering, intermittently. The steering wheel will suddenly become loose for a short l/r range, then both right and left turning will be very hard, almost making if the power steering stopped. Past the hard turning at around10-11 & 1-2, the steering becomes very light and loose. It comes and goes, but seems to go away the longer I drive. Anyone have experience with this, or other houghts or suggestions?
Thanks

There is a separate forum for pre 2018 Q5s - you'll have better luck there. Your description points to an imminent complete failure of the power steering. Get it to a dealer or service facility pronto.

I'm with what patmurphy is saying as well. Sounds like the steering rack is failing.

concur. And it goes without saying that it could lead to loss of control... so consider a tow rather than driving to the shop...
