Thanks guys, that puts me a little bit at ease. I just test drove the 20's and the ride was great and didn't find it much different from the 19's.
How was your experience with potholes? Do the 20's handle them well or do you find yourself holding your breath every time you go over one? I am not a thrill seeker or one to power through potholes, but sometimes you just can't avoid them and it will be nice to not have to worry about blowing out a tire or damaging a rim every time you hit one.

^ This...unexpected/unavoidable potholes, and other really bad roads. Other than for legitimate high performance applications, I think 20" wheels with their attendant very low profile tires are a not good idea. They're an aesthetic/styling driven thing. I live where our roads aren't a problem but I road trip often into pothole territory. Especially then, I'm quite happy the 18 inchers on my GT. Even so, I carry a full size spare. Last thing i need is to be far from home with a busted out tire and damaged wheel.

I too have wondered the effect on road feel a low profile (> 19” rims) tire has. With less air volume , would it not provide somewhat less cushion on poor road surfaces?
On a Q5 that is scheduled for pick up on Monday (coming via deal swap) I sacrified the more expensive 20” standard spoke wheels on the Prestige trim for the 19” hand spoke wheels, which I did for two reasons...I like the hand spoke look more than the busy look of the 20”spoke wheels; and I wanted more tire to show for contrast against the Ibis white exterior.
My guess is that ride difference is negligible except perhaps in a third world driving environment.

I decided to bite the bullet and go for the 20's. Only time will tell if I am going to regret this.
This question is for those who have been running on the 20's for a while now, do you find them wearing out sooner than you would expect?

I just returned a 2018 Q5 loaner with 19" wheels. The car suspension floats and has little road feel. I would get 20" and get a SQ5 with dynamic steering if possible.
