Question about SQ5 DSG

Not in S tune. Manual mode still upshifts automatically at/near redline. In R(S) tune (both S-tronic and Tiptronic), the manual modes are true manual and don't upshift automatically. They still downshift automatically if rpms drop too low to prevent stalling the engine.

There are aftermarket tunes for the DSG that disable the auto upshift in manual mode. But as has been pointed out correctly, the SQ5 doesn't have a DSG, it has the ZF8 torque converter automatic. I'm not aware of a similar aftermarket tune for the ZF8. So you can wait and see if Audi comes out with the RS Q5 and then upgrade.
