Recommended Bang & Olufsen 3D Sound Settings?
#11
There is no magic bullet for the audio settings. It depends on so many factors including age. I'm 68 and can't hear near as well as I used to. My setting are about +3 treble, +1 base, +1 or 2 on the sub and all the surround and 3D stuff off. When I first got the car I was very disappointed with the sound and thought increasing all surround and effects would improve my experience. It did not. I'm back to essentially a stereo system and it sounds great. But keep in mind I only listen to Pandora and whatever I've placed in the jukebox from iTunes. Obviously a better source would demand different equalization.

I'll play with my settings once I get the vehicle. About 85-90% of the time I listen to talk radio on the AM dial or talk radio streamed from my phone. Music will be the remaining 10-15% of the time.

Much the same type of usage here as well. Will be interesting what the better settings are once my vehicle also arrives. My market has the DAB+ (digital radio) so that should be crisper than the AM band.

You clearly don’t need to pay up for the B&O system. That said, I would crank up the surround and 3d anyway to give the system a fuller sound, otherwise the B&O system sounds kind of thin. Regards. Ned.

Based on what I wanted on the vehicle it is worth it to me.
It's like the watch I'm wearing right now. It says it's water resistant down to 200 meters. Will I ever take it to that depth, no. But it's nice to know it's there when I accidentally drop it in the sink while shaving.

@2018 SQ5: I think their point is AM has such poor fidelity you cannot appreciate the B&O. Music does sound great though.
I find cranking up the 3D sound makes it too bright and artificial. I settled on having 3D on low (then it raises the sound stage up by using the A pillar speakers) to give a bit more height to the sound, but not overly intrusive. My surround is off. Unless you have a 3D/surround source, it gets artificially generated into 3D/surround.
But all of this is highly subjective, and all personal preference.

Again, as others have said, audio settings are subjective. That said, I liked the way my Mark Levinson system sounded in my IS 350 and have been trying to find a combination of settings that produce a similar sound for the same source. Here's what I have settled on:
Treble +7
Bass +2
Subwoofer +3
Balance/fade neutral
Focus all
Surround level -4
3D effect medium
