SQ5 - Does the brakes grunt?

I'm the same as 2018_SQ5. They clamp really hard and make a groan/grunt noise when you are just creeping. Once you're moving, they are quiet.

The reason they make noise is they provide insane grip at low pad/rotor temperature. The grunt/groan is them gripping the rotor at low speeds and not slipping like other pad materials.
On other vehicles I've owned, when the pads are cold, braking performance is poor. You have to put your foot right into it to make the vehicle stop. Once you drive it for a bit, then they are fine (same story with ceramics, full metallics, etc).
If I was to guess, pad material was chosen to complement pre-sense. If you back a "cold" vehicle out of a stall when a vehicle is approaching, brakes engage and the vehicle stops HARD. My BMW doesn't do this.

2018 SQ5 Prestige, owned for about 3 months and about 2,000 miles. I got the grunt. I could easily live without it, but it seems to be pretty common. As mentioned above, it is mostly that last little bit of a soft creep. Otherwise, I have no complaints about the actual braking, and love the SQ5.

This pic says it all. Tell me again about poor engineering, cos it makes a little noise now and then. If anything, the brakes may be the BEST part of this vehicle.
This car stops faster than an RS3 despite weighing about 800 lbs more.
I heard the XT5 is a very quiet braker though. Lovely.

I posted similar in another thread. Our bloated and heavy SQ5 will out brake a 526HP Mustang GT350 which weighs close to 20% less. I'm fine with the noise as well.

KaDeTime, you need to stop trolling in every one of these threads. You have no idea about brake pad material, grip, operating temps, etc. A Lambo requires some insane amount of heating of the pads to get anything close to what the SQ5 has with cold pads. That's an apples to oranges comparison.
Why don't you just go back to your dealership and complain like you said last time? Instead of you trying to pretend you understand the engineering behind brake materials.

If you don’t like my opinion then good for you but mine is not the only one as all this brake noise posts show.
And as I stated I have a dealer visit set up for next week.
As we are on the subject of knowledge what is your training on the subject as I’m an mechanical engineer that also has certifications in service.
Please tell us all what is your education on the subject?
