Default Traded 2018 Q5 for 2019 Q5

I absolutely adored my red '18 Q5 -- but disliked the all black interior. Took it in for servicing and ended up trading it for a 2019 in Brilliant Black! With the Atlas Beige interior. LOVE it! A few small changes to the '19 that are nice, too, plus ended up with a couple other little extras i did not have before.

SO happy with it now!! Hubby said he's never letting me go to the dealership alone again.

Good luck with the '19. My '12 Q5 was black, although I loved it, it was a pain keeping it clean.

Curious... what did it cost you to own the ‘18 for one year including: depreciation on the price paid for your ‘18 and the difference you paid for the ‘19? I assume they are both Prestige models?

Going on the assumption that the OP could afford to pay the difference, I see nothing crazy about paying to rectify something that was obviously significant to the OP’s driving experience. A mistaken choice of interior color at the outset notwithstanding, not at all surpirsed that he opted to “buy “ his happiness. Sort of a bleak alternative, ie., suffer through the lament of having made the wrong decision every time you open the car door.

This...black interior better than black exterior.

What changes have you noticed?

I have an early 2018 Q5 and have been renting a lot of 2019s (all Premium Plus trims). I've noticed the following changes and improvements:
  • leatherette door arm rests in PP (used to only be Prestige)
  • leatherette center console knee rests (used to only be Prestige)
  • Qi phone charger under armrest (new option for '19s in US market)
  • cornering assist lights (some people apparently have these on their 2018s, but I don't)
  • USB port adjacent to the 12V charger in the front center console
  • perhaps updated programming for Comfort and Dynamic modes... could be my imagination, but Dynamic feels a bit punchier and Comfort feels smoother...
  • windshield wiper stops 1cm from the edge of the windshield... mine occasionally clicks as it hits the edge of the windshield
  • subwoofer control
  • reverse scrolling for zooming in and out of the Virtual Cockpit map – on my '18, scrolling down "pulls" the map closer to zoom in; on the '19s pulling down zooms out.

Thanks! The majority of my vehicles have been black and although they are a little more difficult to keep clean, I love dusting, washing and polishing to make them pop.

Both are Premium Plus. The difference was MUCH less than I expected! I believe trading an Audi for an Audi helped as well. I think if I had tried to trade for a Lexus I would have only gotten trade-in value or full depreciation value. I was very happy with the deal.

I'm not normally a crazy person but I'm sure it does appear crazy to some people. And I did something I swore I would never do -- trade in a year-old car. But it was worth it to me to be happy with what I have now vs the mindset of "I have to keep this a few more years and then I can finally get what I want." The deal was good and I am very happy with it.
