Trailer Hitch 2018 Q5

Trailer Hitch 2018 Q5
After spending hours researching the best place to get a trailer hitch, I ended up ordering it from the dealership. They had a horrible time trying to figure out what needed to be ordered just to put on a trailer hitch. No pictures available from Audi so no one could figure out specifics. Since it's a new body style from 17 model, no one knows or thinks the 2017 hitch will fit. Checked with numerous local places as well, and no one had any idea what would work. Finally got dealer to get the parts ordered. Will have to wait until after holiday before I get it installed. Dealer has no idea what is involved to put it on because they haven't done a 2018 Q5 yet. What a pain. Audi should do a better job on stuff like this. If the dealer screws up, it's on them.

What dealership was this? It's really not that hard - it's a port installed accessory afterall

I would love to see the instructions for the factory hitch/wiring installation, just to see if most of it could be DIY'd (except the coding). I've done quite a few before, wiring and all, so saving >$1K in labor might be worth it to me. I had planned to do the Drawtite and wiring myself anyway, but they're not available yet for '18.

My understanding is that it's a very difficult self install. ive always done my own too but saw it rated at 10 on a 1-10 scale. It's easier at Port because they ship vehicles without the rear bumper installed. My dealer quoted me over $1000 labor-my order preceded availability to order the Hitch but it became available in time.
Not sure it's any more difficult than prior Gen with all the sensors to disconnect. I could be wrong but that's the way I remember from research months ago.

Got done at dealership
I bought the 2017 hitch from the dealer and paid 745. Cost me about 800 for labor. They didn't give me the instructions, but I'm going back to have a seat back replaced and will ask. It is a huge hitch and completely different because of the new body style. Dealer did a really nice job.

Im really not sure why the dealer had such a tough timing getting this done for you. We have done a handful of them here, and as far as i can see(from my desk watching the techs do it) its 95% the same process. And everything you need comes with it other than the stuff to code it.
If anyone wants to tackle this as a DIY, i have them ready to ship within 48 hours. (normally same day but we give it some time to repack due to size)
Part Number: 80A 092 115
Price: $675 + shipping
