I wonder, could such map updates downloaded from audiusa.com be installed onto my 2015 RS5? I cannot download the map updates from myaudi as my car is like the middle ground between cant and can...but I wonder if they would update my maps....

Your 2015 RS5 MMI is not compatible with the downloadable maps on Myaudi. The screen shot above is the 2018 maps but you will need a software update disc 8R0906961 as well.

They're available now if you update from the car (Audi Connect->Software Update). The MyAudi website hasn't been updated yet, and it's late compared to other years.

My Audi connect has expired, so I guess that I need to wait until I can download from the Audi website.

You don’t need an AC subscription to download from the car. Mine is expired too.

I wonder if you'll still be able to update the maps via download from the web site since the newest MMI software version has different maps than the older versions ??????
