$12,000 of Q7 EXPENSES in 5 years????
Anyone else have these kinds of repair charges and Maintenance costs in a mere 5 year period???? Sheesh!!! For my 2011 Audi Q7, in 5 years, spent $11,650 (between 10/1/13 and 4/18/18) on AUDI SERVICE (!) (FYI: In June of 2013, I purchased a 2011 Audi Q7 3.0T quattro Tiptronioc Premium Plus w/ 50K miles on it...‘Twas a one car owner previously & was purchased w/ a clean Car Fax from a certified Audi Dealership...) KKF's AUDI SERVICE CHARGES via BYER'S: $1700 4/18/18 111,000 miles BRAKES $1530 2/14/18 109,000 miles 105,000 Mile CHECK UP & HEATING THERMOSTAT malfunction (re. Kristin, welcome to the forums. Don't you need to consider the overall miles traveled vs. expenses? If so, is it out of line for a premium European car operated in the USA?

Most of that list is normal wear maintenance, abnormal things that went bad are minimal, which is good.

Many of those expenses can be easily reduced by not going to your dealer. You can expect to pay 30% less at a tire shop for the same tires vs. the dealer. An independent Audi shop will charge you significantly less on the brakes and do most of the other services also. If you're even vaguely handy you can do your oil changes yourself, it's very easy on the 3.0T. Each oil change would then cost you maybe $40 at most. Many of us do our own basic maintenance including oil changes, brakes, etc. If you have more than one local dealer you can check for the best prices on service and they often have coupons that will save you $.

Yes: Amazon. Filters about $13-15 for Mann or Mahle. K&N is < $10.

Not trying to hijack the thread but can you tell us where you are getting your oil/filter for less than $40. I just spent $78 and thought I got a good price, but less than $40 would be much better.

Lots of proper maintenance. I rwmemver doing this once after racing season. I won't make that mistake again with my BOAT.

Yah expenses are high if you pay a premium to have them done. Maybe 90% of the expenses are normal wear and tear...tires and brakes and oil, checks and unavoidable. Not much you can do about oil changes 'cept have it done at a trusted indie garage. You went through an abnormal amount of brakes/tires imo, maybe 2x more than what I consider 'normal'. Sometimes driving habits account for this. One solution to curb expenses is don't have an Audi garage do the work. Find a decent indie Euro tech. Brakes pads...some sold have mileage warranties (Autozone), same as tires with mileage warranties. Premium tires like Michelin command a premium price where as other brands like Hankook can be had for allot less monies without sacrificing safety or performance.You can defeat these 'excessive' expenses, maybe by 50%. .02

Another great example of how leasing with AudiCare covering the maintenance can often end up costing the identical amount or less than owning the car....all why getting a new car ever few years and paying less in taxes. Leasing isn't for everyone....but it's a money-saver too many that never consider it because "leasing is a waste of money". It's just simply math that makes the decision easy to really understand.

leasing won't help with getting new brakes, tires, car detail or running board installs. The rest seems to be oil changes and service checks
