You can buy AudiCare that includes brake pads, and the services are at a VERY substantial discount with AudiCare as opposed to paying for them at the dealer per visit. Plus, with leasing many of the expensive services are never during the mileage you own the car....so again, for some people leasing can be a huge savings. Some brands now offer tires as also 100% free during the lease (for example, VolvoCare, which could be very attractive to someone that apparently goes through a lot of tires for some reason).

You can also buy AudiCare when you buy a car. I did.

Your numbers don't look too far out of line with my own. The only thing that jumped off the page to me was how frequently you're having to replace brakes. I thought I was fairly tough on them, but you only got 18k out of that 2016 set. Unless you're towing something all the time, or are driving it like a go-kart in city traffic, I'm not sure how you're burning through them so quickly. Tire costs look a little high, and again you're only getting 15-20k out of a set, which is on the low side of normal, but maybe not if you're driving aggressively.

Subtracting out the regular maintenance and wear / tear items, you're only in for about $2500 of actual failures over 5 years, which really isn't bad for a 100,000 mile car.

Default buy your tires at tirerack

you can get the best tires available for a lot less than that! I never track maintenance expenses other than to keep the work order as those are costs that come with the ownership of a car. The less expensive the car, the lower the costs, the lower value of the car and the reduced pleasure in driving it. No kia's for me thanks.
