‘13 Accelerator Problem with Cruise Control
Hi all. I searched for this online but didn’t find anything that had to do with the cruise control. Periodically, if I disconnect the cruise control by pressing the stick forward (turning off the cruise control completely) the car’s accelerator will stop working.
This seems like it could turn into a serious safety issue. Anyone have any experience with this or ideas about what it could be?

I’ve never experienced that but I seldom turn it off that way. My habit is to touch the brakes to cancel. Will try your way and observe.

I turn it off both ways, have not had a problem. Also a '13 TDI, I do not believe it has had the emissions programming fix yet, since I go to check the VIN on the portal and it says "eligible."

get it looked at
I had a Mercedes ML 55 AMG and I was driving on the freeway using the cruise control. All of a sudden the car started accelerating HARD. The cruise would not disengage no matter what I did. When it hit 130
i decided to pop it into neutral and let the engine \ trans blow so I could better control the car steering brakes etc. Then as suddenly as it happened it shut off and worked normally. I went home and looked under the hood and found a broken spring on the fly by wire throttle assembly. I took it to the dealer which i did not fully trust and told him what happened but did not show what I had found. needless to say $600.00 later they said they fixed it, i picked it up, opened the hood and low and behold it was still broken. End of the story was the dealer got a new replacement a$$hole and I sold the car after they fixed it a second time. i was left with only my CL 55 AMG designo, which sold a few years later and have not had the silver star since!

Hey all... this problem has expanded to the accelerator periodically not working without the cruise control being involved at all. We're taking the car in to Audi and letting them have it for the week and will keep this up to date with what we find.
To recap the problem, periodically you will go to hit the accelerator and you will not get any response -- as if it is disconnected. If anyone has experienced this please speak up!
