'14 3.0 S-Line Prestige Gas Awful Fuel Economy
We've had our 2014 now for nearly 4 years (54k miles) and have noticed that the fuel economy on short trips in town has been just awful.. like 10-12mpg.
It has new 21" tires and I recently changed the oil and air filter, but that didn't seem to help much. Have the spark plugs (original) scheduled to be changed out next weekend.
Any suggestions on what to check? Vag-Com scan is not showing any engine codes.
Thanks!

check your right foot...
actually, check your tire pressures first off. I keep mine at 45 front and rear and have noticed fuel mileage declines when they are lower. Driving style affects gas mileage more than any other factor. I am an aggressive driver but typically get 17 to 18 around town by paying attention to how I am driving.

I roll my pressure between 45-50 also, seems to keep my tires lasting longer and doesn't feather the edges. Have you cleaned the MAF at anytime? Pick up something like this, from your local parts store. If you're not triggering engine codes, then you probably don't have any pending. These beasts don't fair well in stop and go traffic.

Thanks for the replies.
Tire pressures are at 38PSI Cold on the 295/35/21's, which was at or a bit over what Audi specifies for a half loaded vehicle. I found with higher pressures specified in the manual for full load, I'd wear the middle of the tires pretty badly.
I'll bump up the pressure and see if that helps things.
You may have a point re driving style. My spouse drives the Q7 and tends to brake late.

There's really nothing to it. Short trips in stop and go traffic will give you the worst mpg. If you switch the display to monitor instant fuel economy you'll notice everytime you stop and go the MPG is the absolute worst. You won't get anywhere near the specified mpg on short trips

I would only get 380 tops around town if I was super gentle, but now I am clearing 400 under normal conditions, 500 on the highway at 80 with cruise!
I think it is the CA gas that steals from your pocket from both ends! For that reason, I'm out!
