How much does it cost to replace the front and rear brake pads and brake rotors on a 1st gen Audi Q7?

I got quoted $1120 to replace the front brake pads and rotors and $1020 to replace the rear brake pads and rotors at the dealer

Can I get a better price if I had the service done at a 3rd party indy shop?

Definitely go indy. I put a full set of Bosch pads (from Amazon) on my '13 for roughly $120 plus my time (1.5 hours excluding all of the interruptions I had that day). I've done front rotors on my '07 along with pads for $200-something. The rear rotors are a little more involved due to the drum-in-hat parking brake mechanism, but the cost was similar for rotors & pads. That is using name-brand parts, not generic. $2140 is heinous for pads and rotors, even at $150/hour (guessing).

I just DIY'd front and rear for $600 w/OEM Parts

Last time I had front and rears done at a dealer, it was around $2k. I learned quickly to go elsewhere. I still use the OEM rotors and sensors that I purchase from the parts dept, but prefer my Porterfield R4S pads. Luckily I have a friend who will help me install everything.

Pad warning lights turn off as soon as the new sensors are hooked up.

Also, if Toledo has anything to do with your locale, I would suggest not using the dealer in Sylvania. But I'm not sure what "certified Audi shop" you would be talking about. Only dealers are truly certified. Otherwise, an indy shop can hire a factory trained tech, but that doesn't mean they are certified.

I just replaced all of my brakes on my 07 Q7. FCP Euro has Zimmerman Rotors (OEM) and Pagid brake pads (German made by Hella). OEM quality form OEM suppliers for just under $500 including new sensors. Yes, it was $495 shipped for both front and rear brakes.

It's an easy job. You will be kicking yourself in the head once you find how easy it is and how ridiculous what most charge.

Those places might as well give you a bar of soap a the receptionist counter and suggest you drop it on the floor before you leave.

This video is 99.9% correct as he said to torque the wheels to 100ft/lbs. My manual says 120ft/lbs.
