Is the 2007 TPMS active or inactive?
I've read that the 2007-2009 have active TPMS, but my MMI seems to be for an inactive system. I can't tell what I have. Below are pictures of my MMI and valve stem. I want to buy new wheels and tires, so I'm trying to figure out what I need.

You are referring to direct or indirect tpms. Yours is direct system, whereby the sensors are located in the tires.

For my own education, can this be determined from my pictures? Or is this just something you knew the answer to? |
Most Audis went to the indirect (sensor-less) system in 2010 for the USA.
Rubber valve stem vs. metal valve stem is also a give away on Audi. |

older gen q7 models were direct. You'll need the 433 mhz sensor

Also note that not all 433 sensors are compatible. I bought a "generic" set that was supposed to work, but they would not. Had to get car-specific 433 sensors. That was expensive to fix.
