This past Saturday, I noticed a large puddle of liquid under my parked 2010 TDI (11,000 miles). As I was driving, the coolant warning light came on. I took the vehicle to the dealer and they diagnosed a leaking Coolant Pump; which was replaced.

Seems to be a pretty widespread problem at this point.

I'd get a second opinion from another dealer (with different ownership).

My 2009 Q7 TDI received the following at my 25k service:
Water pump (059-121-012-A) and associated clips, hose and tie wrap.
Pump for exhaust gas recirc cooler(V400 19 45 55 99 130TU) and associated hose.

This was mandated by Audi and my Q7's water-pump had not failed at all but was replaced due to a higher likelihood of future failure. It is a common failure for any VW\Audi group vehicle with the 3.0 TDI engine.

You're lucky. Same mystery leak in my 07 4.2 engine resulted in a complete engine replacement at 30K....my problem was related to a cracked engine block.

My 2010 Q5 busted a leak while on the road today. I was able to get it towed to an Audi dealership. As I was explaining my problem to the service consultant, she responded that it was my water pump. She indicated that its a known issue with some of the Q5 units. In the end, after 4hrs, the pump was replaced and I was back on the road.

Water Pump (06E-121-005-G)

You are quite correct had to take my 2013 audi Q7 from Audi garage to a private mechanic to have my fuel rail fixed, in turn out to be poor workmenship, when they were replacing one faulty injector they did not tighten the bolts holding the injectors properly but already asking for R18.5k to replace the whole fuel rail system

Having experienced this myself through my own local Audi dealership (I could write a book on them) I'm beginning to wonder if any Audi techs can do anything other than operate a diagnostic computer program because if it doesn't show up on screen or on a TSB they don't seem to have a clue where to start looking... or am I being harsh?
