2011 Q7 Tail hatch falls on wife's head unexpectedly!
My wife will be loading groceries and the hatch just unexpectedly will fall on her head. Pretty heavy but she is a tough girl and can handle that
Dealer said it could be $1000 to fix if needs a new motor or hydraulics? I'm trading it in a year but don't know if my wife's head can withstand the punishment.
Can I fix this? thanks for any help you can offer.

I'll bet you just need to replace the shock struts (left and right black thingies attached to the hatch and the body) Any decent dealer would know this. The shocks are what hold up the hatch after the lift motor does its thing. I just hate dealers that are after every all mighty buck.
you can get these struts just about anywhere and it will take five minutes to replace them both.
