Installing S-line body after market...
You all must think its crazy for someone to buy a brand new 2011 Q7 TDI and ask about installing a S-line body kit...
The reason is i live in HK where taxes on cars can be as high as 85%... The dealer listed price for the exterior s-line package is $2300 approximately but w/ the tax its over $4200... just doesn't seem worth it.
The price to buy the kit from the dealer's parts department and install it aftermarket is only a couple of hundred dollars cheaper... so am wonder if any one know what the cost of the body kit (front & rear bumper, and the skirts) will cost in different parts of the world.
Labor and painting in HK on the otherhand is generally quite cheap so I am thinking I can ship the parts in abroad and just get someone to install for me.
any thots?

I might be comparing apples and oranges here since I dont own a 2011 Q7. When I bought my 2007 Q7, I inquired about the S-line body parts and was quoted about $2800 in body parts alone, unpainted! I would imagine spending another $1500 to $2500 in prep, painting and installation for the parts. Granted all these prices were quoted here in Los Angeles California. I couldn't justify (for myself) spending another $5000 to $6000 just to upgrade my Q7 to the S-line Specs, so I just accepted the black trim and stock grill, and bumpers on my Q7. In hind sight, I would of waited for and paid extra for a S-Line model, but I can say without any regret that I love my Q7. In my case I would rather spend money like that elsewhere on the vehicle that would enhance performance as opposed to aethestics such as buying KW Variant 3 coilovers (yes I dont have the adaptive air suspension either), but to each is own, if you have the funds set aside go for it, It's your Q7, and you should set it up the way you want it.
Tou are not crazy at all.. when my 2009 SLine showed up from the dealer (1 year old) i had the 2011 S-Line body parts ready to install.. in my case it was just the new grill, new lower rear bumper (actually called a spoiler) I already have the side sills and i am still waiting on the new front bumper parts. I have all the part numbers if you want them... it's a fairly easy swap.

gregtay,
can you provide the 2011 sline rear bumper part number? Odd as it sounds, that is my favorite part of the Sline. They dont even show a pic of it in the brochure.
hk,
the cheapest place I could find for the q7 wheel flares was oemplus.com. Other parts I am sure you can search as well. Dealer prices are beyond insanity.

The taillights are too bad (about $200 each, but you can sell the old ones on ebay).. but you need a new controller .. which is $350. Plug and play (meaning no new wiring) but you need to remove and plug in the new controller.

to be clear .. is it $350 Each for the controller for a total of $700 plus $400 = $1100 for the tail lights? would it be a direct plug to the old tail light wiring? btw, where did you puchase your tail lights?

For tail lights that is way too much coin for me although they do look nice. I do like the stock ones as well though.
And thanks for the part numbers greg. Your Q looks stellar. I need to see what would need to be painted etc with the S line rear bumper lower piece.

Regarding the Exhaust tips, just snap in, I presume?
Thinking of get new tips for my '10 TDI.
Funny thing, I actually like the 09 taillamp clusters better. I like the LED turn signals and brake light, but don't like the parking light on the back, a small LED pipe light, which just looks out of place at night, looks like it's half finished, maybe would be better if there's an upper LED light pipe as well.
