Default 2011 Q7 TDI Transfer Case fluid

Hi all,

I have been searching the forum and the internet and can't seem to find what type of fluid is needed in my transfer case. I came across a thread where someone replaced their 2014 Q7 transfer case fluid and a part number was provided but when I search the number through ECS tuning and other sites, it says the fluid is not for my car. I'm getting ready to order the differential oil so i can flush and replace and want to do the same with the transfer case. Can anyone chime in? Thanks

Call the dealer's parts desk, give em your VIN# and ask for the part number for that and the cost (they are likely going to be hard to beat on price unless they just gouging fluid prices)

Good call! Ended up being the same part number, G052536A2, as i saw in the other thread. The parts guy mentioned i needed about 6 bottles/6liters for the transfer case. 2 bottles/2liters front diff, pn# G052145S2, and same for rear. He didn't necessarily say they were liter bottles but when i look it up they only come in liter bottles. Does that seem right?

It was about half of the specs the part guy told me. Either way better to have more than less when it comes to changing the fluid. Thanks for your help!

Just replace whatever you take out, dont wanna overfill.. so drain em into a measuring cup or something, then pump that much back into em after, mebe a tiny bit more but thats enough.. if they are not showing any signs of leaking that should be good, gear oil is super thick and there are tons of surface area in there for it to cling to, you'll never get all of the old stuff out completely.. the transmission cooler and hoses hold quite a bit of fluids that are not worth draining when you get to the gearbox, and you'll greatly overfill if you dont account for that residual capacity.
