Default 2012 Q7-HID Bulb Replacement Options

For those of you that have replaced a HID Bulb in your headlamps can you please give me your opinions of the best options.

Dealer wants 220.00, which just seemed high, but I looked at AutoZone and Advance, both have a price around 170, so not much difference.

Thanks

Charles

go to amazon and pick up Phillips or Sylvania. Both OEM brands. Should run you under $100 ceiling.

I just had this also: Dealer wants $360 installed. How hard is it to install. They made a big deal about high voltage and getting zapped and how the battery had to be disconnected. I would think you could not get zapped unless the car was running??? Please advise if you can help. Thanks!

VIP auto - $160 to $190 installed depending on time labor takes. Quoted that range.

as long as car is off and coming home feature is turned off, you will be fine as there is no power running there.

It's super easy to take out the headlight on the Q7, and once you take headlight out, it's a walk in the park as far as replacing the bulb goes. Even $160 installed is too much IMO considering you can get bulbs for $80-100

I just watched a youtube video and bought the bulb and put it in. 20 minutes. broke a small plastic tab off but all is in and fine. next time I will be more patient. my 3.0 TDI Gen1 q7 unfortunately will be going back to Audi in the next 8 months or so. I have to buy a gas model. Not happy with that. Love the TDI.

I see now that I could have bought the bulb on Amazon for $56. I paid $99 at O'Reilly auto parts. Pepboys and VIP were 134 and 150.

Thanks JetsFan for encouraging me to just do it myself.

ProTip: Never replace just one bulb, you'll have different colored eyes if you do.. older bulbs wont burn as bright or same color temp as new ones, besides if one just went out chances are the other will follow shortly.
