2012 Q7 TDI Settlement
 
Still no news on fix on my 2012 Q7 TDI. There's no update on Audi's official site. "The next step in the process is to schedule your appointment to complete the Approved Emissions Modification. An Emissions Modification for your vehicle is not yet approved by EPA/CARB. Volkswagen will contact you when there is an update on the status of the Emissions Modification for your vehicle." Do I have to sell my car back to Audi? Any suggestions?

Sell it back and buy a '15 for the same money.

Why wouldn't sell your car back? There is a good incentive.

I have 52,000 mile on the ODM. Buy back price is $52,000.
I saw some 15's TDI for over 50,000 Plus tax(So Cal). I got to pay at least 3000 on top of the buy back money.
My car still drives good. No issue so far. If audi can fix it. I'll get $12,522.60 compensate. I think that will be a better deal for me.
I talked to vwgoa guys they still waiting on approve for a fix.

I doubt there will ever be a fix for the early models, and since you're in CA the CARB may decide at some point you should have just sold it back and deny you registration. Then you'd be out both ends, no buy back and no compensation.

Let's take a poll of the other 2007-2012 TDI owners...any of you reading this waiting for the fix vs. doing the buyback and why?

I guess I am confused on the math. Why not buy a 2015 premium plus with 40K miles for around $37K? You will still have some manufacturer warranty and have a car with less miles, 3 years newer, and get the same cash in your pocket. Full disclosure - I am a car dealer. I am NOT looking to make a sale. I hate seeing people getting ripped off, though. Also, the 2015 Q7 is nicer than 2012 with its features.

We will turn in our 2011 and buy a 2015. Looking at one now that is optioned nicely like ours. Going from 120000 Miles 7 years old to 37000 miles 3 years old with remaining factory warranty and theTDI extended warranty. Out of pocket expense including sales tax will be about $2000. after buyback and Bosch money. We still enjoy the 2011. It looks and runs great but this is a no brainer financially .

Audi was supposed to submit a fix for Gen1's back in November 2017, if they did the EPA/CARB will likely approve it around summer of this year at the earliest.. They submitted the Gen2 fix in April 2017 and it was not approved until October 2017, Ive yet to see a fix approved sooner than 6mo after being submitted.. The Gen1 2.0L's they submitted a fix in January 2017 and it was approved in Sept 2017.

VWoA has only given up trying to fix one platform so far, and its because it had a 6MT.. they fixed the DSG versions of the same engine no problem.

That being said, sell your Gen1 and buy a Gen2.. nobody but VWoA is ever gonna offer you a price like that ever again

I'm back on forth on this as well but I the website says there is a fix option when I enter the VIN. I also haven't been able to locate a '15 for sale with all the same options. What exactly would the differences be going from a '12 to a '15?

We just bought a 15 to replace our 11 when it goes back. So far there are remarkably few differences. The MMI allows streaming of music via Bluetooth rather than having to plug in the Audi music interface. This 15 is a Premium Plus with technology and the 11 is a Prestige. The main difference we have found is the 15 has heated rear seats and steering wheel that the 11 does not but does not have ventilated seats that the 11 does. The MMI is more modern also and has access to Google Maps and destination search if one pays for an Audi Connect account. The newer 3.0 TDI engine does have a simplified timing chain cam drive for reliability but that isn’t something we can notice.
