Default 2013 - None of the Doors Will Lock With Touch Handle

Has anyone experience this with their 2013? Doors will unlock, but will not lock anymore with touch sensor on any of the doors.

Known common fault for this generation of Q7. I have gone through 7 handles and all have broken lock buttons. Revised part still does not fix this problem.

So the problem lies in the buttons? Not a sensor or relay problem then.

I would love to hear about that more myself, I’m having a same issue. As a matter of fact at the same time my handles touch sensor stopped working my transmission started acting up. I wonder if I had some type of short somewhere that caused all sorts of issues.

search this subform, hundreds of discussions going back a decade. "door handles" is probably all you need.

Scan it with a VCDS first see if the fault matches, but your handles need painted.. they come raw, and they are not cheap, all but the most determined just say ****it and press the lock button on the fob, its cheaper.

Will have to have my mechanic scan it when I get next oil change. And yes I priced the raw door handles and that’s why I was checking for any other alternatives other than replace the handle. Having an Q7 without touch lock is like having an 60 inch TV with no HD to me, 🤣😂🤣😂
But the good ole key fob still works 🤣

Trust me, don't bother getting them fixed, they will break again. Over 12 years of ownership, I had 3 swapped out under warranty, and after a couple more years, 3 of the remaining 4 handle lock buttons died, so then I paid out of pocket to swap one more handle, hoping to at least have one door handle lock button working on each side of the car, and then even the newly swapped in current revision handle died within a year of installation. Finally gave up and haven't had a working lock button for the past 4 years. Costs around $300-$400 per handle to replace at a shop. Funny thing is the lock button that lasted the longest was the original drivers door handle, so I'm thinking that the button is more likely to fail when it's not used as often. Don't bother, stick with the remote fob button.

It's different if it's the unlock sensor on the door handle that's broken, because that can prevent your car from powering down and cause unnecessary battery drain. If I had that issue, I would get the handle swapped.
