Default 2013 Q7 Crank Pulley Failure at 47,000 miles

At 47,000 miles, I had the crankshaft pulley separate from the hub and throw the Serpentine belt.I was very fortunate; the pulley came off either as I was shutting the engine off or starting it up. I just don't understand how it could fail with so few miles on it.

Looks like corrosion played an issue helping the rubber separate from the hub.
