Default 2013 TDI Q7 Battery replacement

Hi folks. Decided to keep the Q7 (82k miles) and get a few things done just to keep it in top shape. Since it still has the original battery, thought I would get that changed...….Dealer quoted $884 battery and labor. Said the battery alone is $640. To say the least, ain't gonna happen. What has been your experience and cost? My concern is this thing craps out on a trip and then has to be towed to **** Germany for repairs.

Just get yourself a good quality AGM battery and follow the procedure below, in addition you'll want to code the battery via VCDS to your vehicle:

I bought one from my local VW dealer - $170 - same part number as a Toureg - and did it myself. I didn't hook up an external battery and all of my settings remained after being without a charge for an hour or so.

My dealer quoted $485 for a battery. So $884 is redouculous. I went to Interstate and got 6 year for $285 and installed it myself and coded the battery to the Audi. In any case your overdue for a battery. You don't want that to go on a trip.

I also bought the battery from the local VW dealership and installed it myself. It's below the driver seat so kind of a pain to get out, but doable with a simple tool set. I've also seen Advanced Auto "Gold" batteries are the same manufacturer of OEM batteries but YMMV. Budget in buying a vag com if you want to regsiter the new battery.

When I had the battery replaced on our 2011 TDI the dealer here charged me about $350. As I recall. I had VAG Com and could have done it but for $350. I took the easy way.

Thanks for the video. Clearly this guy knows nothing about using a vacuum to keep his car clean or how to properly maintain hand tools. That's one nasty looking set of triple-square bits. He must have left them sitting out in the rain. I would have used a vacuum to clean all the crap from under the seat before reinstalling it, but that's just me.

Here is my video I at least remove the gummy bear
If you match the same CCA of the battery presently installed there is no need to code anything.
The car can only test the CCA of the battery, these arent laptop batteries there is no electronics on them
