2014/2015 Q7
Hi all.
Ive been looking to buy a certified 2014 or 2015 Audi Q7. Someone told me this morning that JD Power had given them a 2 star reliability rating. I read some of the CARFAX records on the ones I was interested in and they all had constant brake pad, fuse, and tire replacements. It was at least once a year average. That seems like a lot to me since our GMC Yukon takes new brake pads once every 2.5 years and our keep grand Cherokee every 3 years. It sounds to me like this vehicle will cost a lot in maintenance. Do you all have the same experience with your Audi? Any recommendations? Thanks!

Yes it will eat up tires and brakes.. ~15k miles on a set of OEM tires is normal... ~20k miles is normal for a set of brakes.. this has much bigger tires and brakes than a Yukon or Cherokee along with the always on AWD system wearing all corners.. All tires have to be replaced at the same time.
If you can DIY brake jobs they are reasonable ($500ish), if you take it to a dealer be prepared to bend over for em ($1200+).. Tires are not cheap either, but you can downsize from 20/21in to 18in and run normal cheap truck tires on em.. You'll get more life out of em and they are much more affordable.

I am on my 4th Q7 and only one has any issues outside of brakes and tires - my 2008 had a lemon-law return to AOA, they replaced it with a new 2011 S-line - turned out to be a simple fix, one of the fuel pumps.
But yes, brakes and tires oh my.
on my 2015, I got 20k on front brakes before replacing and 27k on OEM tires - but our Q7 does 50% of its miles in San Francisco (think really big hills).
