yeah Stage 2 tune is basically going to hit EGT limiter quickly and pull back to Stage 1 levels, this is what I saw w/DPF intact.. mebe because I bought my tune from a shop he didnt ask no questions about the setup.. though its possible he does only have stage 1 stock and stage 2 w/delete files developed given how few 3.0L's actually get tuned compared to the 2.0L.

Ive got fix money to spend so its real damn tempting not to put a new turbo on and go for a conservative sage 3, mine of course will be offroad use.. <sometimes>

Does anyone have contact info for yrk2.7t? He’s not answered a PM from several days ago which is unlike him based on his very timely forum replies in the past. Has he stopped doing the TCU retune/flashback?

Interesting... on my mk4 golf I have a stage 4 tune with the “off-road” portion programmed too... I would have just assumed you could add on the extras on to a stage 1/2 tune with no issues for a Q7.

I brought my car into a local shop who is a local dealer for Malone so I didn’t have to answer any questions from Malone as I didn’t go the flashzilla route... I just specified the stage and options I wanted since the shop knew what was done to the car (turbo, injectors, clutch, etc).

During the summer id like to get the Q7 tuned by Malone... Adding power is great, but I’m also looking into the added fuel savings!

So a stage 1 or 2 from Malone has no other options on a stock 2014 Q7 TDI, which is kinda disappointing since that is why I wanted to go with Malone instead of Kerma thinking I could get dynamic EGR control. The flashzilla I ordered has been shipped, but I will not be able to get a custom tune like I thought unless I delete items from my car. On another note I received a phone call from Kerma today and he answered all my questions and really made me feel like the Kerma would be awesome. Anyone want to buy a flashzilla lol. I am back on the fence now.
About the TCU, what if I buy a used prefix one on ebay? Anyone do this? Would this work: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2010-2015-1...sAAOSwRcZckWGh

If it matches the same model as yours and hasent been updated (no way of telling its a pre-fix) it will work.. thats another option I could pursue, grab an ebay TCM, put it in.. take it in for the fix, then put my original known pre-fix one back in.

If you have a VCDS or access to one open the Transmission up and look at the model number of the TCM in the info output

Hey Dreadlocks, yours is still prefix? I have a better idea, I'll buy you the one on ebay and you sell me yours lol.

hah yah no.. I paid a lot for my TDI so I could guarantee it was unmolested by the EPA.. though I do get a big check when I do take it in.. if I couldn't completely unfux it then I'd leave the money on the table, that was the double down gamble I took and won since I already cashed out handsomely on my 2.0L TDI.. at the time I got my Q7 prices were inflated and speculators were keeping stocks low because of the potential settlement money.

I'm waiting the clock out, only one year left before I have to have it fixed.. but I'll probably do it this summer so I dont have to replace the exhaust and mebe turbo in middle of winter.. my garage is not big enough to work on large vehicles, can barely open the doors (damn 60's houses) so I'm a shade tree mechanic.

Has anybody been able to contact yrk2.7t? He hasn't been active since Feb and I never received a response from the PM I sent.

If he is no longer available, is there any other options to get the TCM flashed back to pre-update tune?
