I didn't get any of that experimental warnings and would be terrified to "Do It!" also if I did get those. While you reported your coding was the same as mine (Toureg is a normal coding for these as it used the same tranny though I believe I read they had a more aggressive gearing program which is preferred.)

If I were you I'd reach out on the Ross-Tech forum since you are a legit owner and they should be able to figure out why you are seeing that...

I reached out to Ross Tech forum and decided to run another scan today. Why would these malfunction just from touching 1 button and "NOT DO IT"?

Hey mate, firstly I noticed with your scan it shows chassis type “4F” im pretty sure this is like an A6 or something, like i said earlier it needs to be picking up 4L for earlier Q7’s and new generations are 4M.
also when it displays “malfunction” next to the particular modules for you its 01, 05, 34 & 6D its just indicating you have a logged or active fault with that system it controls.
you will need to individually select these control modules, read the code and determine the fault & maybe clear it if its an oldy.

all the coding numbers you shoukd take a screen **** with your phone before playing with it. As if you change some numbers for the worse you can always revert back wnd punch in the original code bud.

dont be scared to use VCDS just be careful with what you do with it.

Thanks Up! I am not sure why 4F shows, and nice catch, your right, 4L is the Q.
I did not change anything that would have changed that. I am very specific and careful with changes and I do copy and paste coding into an ongoing notepad for future reference or if something gets Fd up.
I also keep a word doc with screenshots for many things.
In fact, this (below) was my very first scan before I touched or changed anything, even the green screen, which was the very first mod I made. I just realized there were codes thrown here. I don't remember if that was because I forgot to turn the key on, or if that was a couple runs in that I did that.
I did go through and cleared all codes individually in each module this morning. I will give it a couple of days and check them again.
I did manage to get the rear markers disabled.

It might go without saying (should have been said to me...), some functions cannot be changed when the engine is running. I tried this Gear Indicator change many times and it wouldn't take on my 2014. Then I used the key in the ignition partially turned and it took right away. Based on your ABS disaster you might have something else going on.

By the way, Gear Indicator + Paddle Shifters = Win for towing trailers on grades. It really helps me to pre-shift when anticipating grade changes so the transmission doesn't hunt or work as hard.

Thank you! I am looking forward to it.
I always (after learning the hard way like yourself) use the key when entering VCDS.
This particular issue is my interaction with module through VCDS:

- Current Gear Supression Disabled
02 Auto Trans - Coding 7 = 001378 Long Coding Helper
POPUP = (both verified and experimental coding information are available for this module. Do you want to use experimental coding information?)
Yes
POPUP = (VCDS is about to send experimental coding information to Lcode. This information is unverified, untested and you will be using it AT YOUR OWN RISK. Do you want to proceed? Press yes for experimental information or no for confirmed coding information.)Yes Byte 0-2 (1378 Country Coding, Toureg - NAR)

Question is, What do I do?How do I make the change after all that?
Did you experience any of this during your process? If not, why would mine?

Thanks for all the help!

I just ran out and checked.

All correct until "Do you want to use experimental coding?" (I select "No")

When the long coding helper opens, press down arrow on your keyboard twice. The option to suppress gear indication should appear as the second checkbox on a list. (Pressing the down arrow on this screen just moves from Byte to Byte. You want to change bit 1 of byte 1.

Unselect the box, exit the long coding helper, save.

Nowhere in the process did I have to select which vehicle I have.

Ha, funny stuff! I am used to saying no and getting booted out of things. So no takes me where I want to go? I'll be going! Thank friend!

Ok, I got it with a little help from my friends!

Change bit 1 of byte 1.
Looks Right!
