Default 2015 Q7 and X-CARGO cargo box?

We own a X-CARGO Sport 20 rooftop cargo box. Its made by Sears (like Thule) but its the budget version. We've used it for a few years on our other vehicle and it works great.

SEARS's online fit guide shows that this is not a match for my 2015 Q7 with OEM rack. But I'm guessing it may be because it sticks out a bit too far in the back and could potentially interfere with the hatch opening completely (the online guide shows that the slightly smaller X-CARGO XL fits the 2015 Q7). If it is only a minor restriction I'd be willing to deal with it.

I'd just put it on and check it myself, but I don't currently have the Audi factory rack and am considering having my dealership add it. But without knowing whether our cargo box would work I'm not willing to roll the dice. It may be a longshot, but has anyone ever used this rack on this vehicle? I know I'm not going to convince my wife we should buy another cargo box for the Audi. But I'd much prefer to drive the Audi in the snow than our other vehicle . . .

Any relevant experience appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: Has anyone ever used this CARGO BOX on this vehicle WITH THE OEM RACK?

I have a 2014 Q7 with the factory roof bars and my Thule Force XL fits just fine, even with the rear hatch open. The Thule Force XL is longer than your carrier. The only thing I could think is that the mounting hardware on the X-CARGO Sport 20 is made for slimmer roof bars.

Thanks Hoosier1661. The manual says that The Thule Force XL fits the Q7 while the Sport 20 doesn't -- I assumed it was because even though my Sport 20 is shorter overall that perhaps it was longer from the back to the rear crossbar mounting location. But I suppose that if that were true, the Thule wouldn't be balanced on the bars and would stick out unnaturally far in front of the front bar compared to the rear bar.

The mounting brackets on my Sport 20 are pretty wide. I may just break down and get the bars anyway, since I will probably want a ski rack in the near future . . .
