Default Advanced key eats a lot more battery power to provide that cool feature

You need new set of batteries. I am not kidding but try Dollar store. They have it and it works great. I use them on all of our Audi Cars but Q& advanced key drains them in about 6-8 months.

I should be glad it lasted as long as it did then. :-)

Default Update

I haven't had a chance to buy the batteries but I tried my wife's key last night and all remote functions were dead. I could still start the engine with the key inserted but that was pretty much it. Still no message regarding the key battery though. I plan to buy two batteries tonight or tomorrow. At least my key still works (apart from a single moment with "no key identified" yesterday morning - but again, the advanced key started the engine after I pressed the unlock button and there was a response). I'm curious that the EPC light was on upon starting this afternoon but when I stopped after a few hundred yards at a curb and restarted the engine it was gone. Weird...

Default Resolved - Collective wisdom of the forum rules!

I replaced both key batteries and everything works perfectly once again. Thanks to all who shared their experiences!

Default BTW how long have you had your Q

Just curious to see if there is a pattern or general timescale for these failures.
Also see new thread up top regarding electrical fails started today.

Default Re: It's a standard CR2032 battery you can pick up at any drug store

Thanks for the info. Mine is acting up and likely needs new battery. Do you think it has something to do with the cold weather? It coincided when temperature dropped to the mid 30's.

BTW, due to recert too - - - NephSap.

Replaced battery. Lasted 30 days. Battery is giving weak signal. Will not arm or disarm. No code. Advanced key is unrecognized. Going to replace the battery again.
