2014 Q7 TDI Oil Change -- easy
Just completed the first oil change on the Q7 TDI.
Drove up on a set of Rhino ramps and then removed the front cover under the car. It has a small black drain bolt (6mm allen wrench hole) at the bottom of the black oil pan. The oil filter is in the engine bay, after you remove the plastic engine cover, it is right there in front of you. You will need a large adjustable wrench or pipe wrench to get the oil filter cover off.
I used Mobile-1 5w-30 oil (there is only one that is approved with VW-507 spec from pep boys @$12/qt) The oil filter was Audi OEM @ $15).
It took 8.5 quart of oil and the whole process is very straight forward I didn't even take photos.
As for those of you who are wondering what the differences are among VW 505, 506, and 507 spec oil, here is what I found on another site:
505 = fixed interval oil
506 = flexible service interval oil.
507 = universal diesel standard for both fixed & flexible service interval.

Agreed in your point that there was no need at all for pics. Very easy. Did the same for my 2010 q7.
Changed my air, pollen and fuel filters too. All easily accessible also. Good design. I can get 507 spec oil very cheap, castrol edge 5w 30 for £30 8 litres, i have a friend in the industry, and all the filters, 4 altogether for £40. So I'll be doing this d.i.y about 3 times a year to keep that engine as clean as possible
