Another towing thread

Yeah, umm thats total nonsense.. Aisin, the company that makes your transmission, not Audi.. would disagree with that assessment.. they are lifetime in the sense that you'll be long out of warranty and ready for a new car when your transmission requires expensive repair.. thats their idea of lifetime.
Change it ~60-80k miles regardless what they tell you.. your still a wee bit early to do it yet, despite the abuse... diffs I'd have serviced ~100k, sooner if your towing boats because it will get water into em.. They are kinda right about inspection, its too much work to check em and not commit to changing it.. not like they have dipsticks.

Plywood and felt!
It took a little measuring to fit exact around the hatch, but it slides right in!
I used a 3/4 wooden dowel rod to span into the cargo cover slots.
I used hooks where the cover clips to the seats and wood to attach them to, so the board lays on top of it.
I am going to change or modify this a little, so I can access the area via folding seat down. I found this to be a hindrance while traveling.
Other than that, I have a ton of weight on it and it has held solid!

Also, I thought our transmissions were made by ZF, as I have read many articles that refer to both makers, Aisin being the better of the 2.

EPC light came on and couldn't find anything on my VAGCOM so I dropped it off at the shop for that to be fixed and Transmission fluid change. Are the diffs like normal diffs to change? (drain and fill hole)

ZF makes the Q5 Gearbox, Aisin makes the Q7 Gearbox.

Generally yes, fill hole on the side, drain on the bottom. Remove the fill plug first, then the drain plug.

Xterra is sold and Q7 is back in action after HPFP issue. I plan to tow the boat this weekend. Wish me luck.
I did take the Q7 for a 400 mile trip yesterday. Initial impression was the V8 lacked in off the line performance. After getting it out on the highway and stretching its legs the V8 does give it a good push from 60mph+ to various speeds and I love the sound of that motor. I certainly see
why it would be fun in an S4 or S5. The gearing seems to be good too. I am hoping the hitch weight is not a problem.
