Default Armrest Lid Spring?

I bought my 2012 Q7 TDI Prestige last week and I'm loving it. I'm just trying to figure out simple fixes for some very minor problems.

One issue is the topmost compartment of the armrest doesn't stay open. Am I right in assuming it should? My gut tells me a spring is loose or missing.

I'm talking about just the top storage area. The lid that has to be opened by pressing the plastic button. I expected it to be spring loaded when the button was pressed and figured it would naturally want to stay open. If not, then great! Nothing is broken.

I was going to take apart the armrest to work on mitigating creaks and rattles this weekend. I'll take a look for any broken parts or loose springs.

its not spring loaded when button is pressed as in it flies open, you lift it up 80 degrees and you can feel friction that snaps it into 90 and holds it there.

Ok. Mine is definitely broken, then. I don't feel anything click into place or hold the lid at the top. It drops back down if I let go of it from any height. I'll tear into it to see if I can fix it.

Walked out the car and tested, yeah its loaded once open, pretty strong. I was thinking of something else in my first reply, disregard.
