Default bad gas smell

My friend has an audi q7. 2010 model. When he started the engine, we can smell a bad gas smell inside the cabin. We thought that the gas come out from the air cond. It happens regularly. Then he takes his car to an audi repair shop and got his aircond filter changed. But the gas can still be smell. It is fine at first but become worse day by days. I want to ask . Does this problem related to engine? And is it carbon monoxide gas? Coz the gas makes my nose feel pains a bit.

my only guess would be the recall that is out right now for fuel leak but 2010 didn't fall under that according to VAG perhaps it is a late build 2010 and it is affected?

Nurul Alida, where are you located? Outside of USA? If you are outside of USA then that 2010 model would be the same as a USA spec 2011 model.. Its because the rest of the world gets the newer model 1 year ahead of USA. And if that's the case then I believe it is the same problem as Iconoclast brought up which has a USA open recall for it. The fuel leak.

you did not state that in the original post, at this point out i don't know what the issue may be outside of leaking fuel.

If it's a TDI diesel, how can he possibly smell gasoline? Do you mean that he smells diesel?

Could be a leak on top of the fuel filter, underneath the rear seats.
