Calling all camper trailer towers
I know the limit on the Q7 is 6600 lbs with 660 on the tongue. For a safety margin I want the camper max at 6000/600.
What do you guys have? 2 adults, 2 young kids, dog. Thinking something in the 20-25 foot range should be good on the weight?
Pics always welcome

2017 Intech Discover 20ft Toyhauler - $22k
- Tandem Torsion Axles
- Full Aluminum Frame/Box
- Two LP Heaters, AirConditioning, PowerVent, 80qt Engel Fridge.
- Two Queen size beds
- 650W Solar w/100AH LiFePo4 Battery & Honda 2200 Genset
- 2003 KTM 65 SX, 1993 Suzuki DR350
- Two Kids, Two Dogs, Two Adults
- GVWR 7k, dunno my current weights.. seems fine.
Right now I'm looking at picking up a Volkswagen Iltis to swap a TDI motor into, it'll fit in the back of my toy hauler
Too bad they only made these for such a short time, not many produced unfortunately.. InTech has some really nice smaller units.

Just finished a 1500 mile trip towing a 2006 R-Vision MaxLite 23RS (23' with a rear slide). Supposedly it's 4k dry....loaded it came in at 5200 lbs. I'll be doing a whole post on my experience....

MDL - do you have air suspension on your 4.2T? At ~750lb TW I would assume so, I'd think that would sag the steel suspension quite a bit. But I know with my old 4.2 with air, it would level anything I hooked to it or loaded in the cargo area (twice now I've loaded the back of a Q7 with 800+ lbs of stuff).

Nice, thats a big ol trailer! So jelous of your guy's 4.2 TDI that is a really fantastic engine that makes any half ton truck jelous.
I have been reading aloot of accounts on the air stream forums, guys towing 6k+ lb campers with and without WD hitches all over the place with cayennes and Q7s with no issues. WD would be a must with steel suspension. Most o the cayennes on the AS forums are steel suspension. They sit nice and level with WD bars.
