Cargo Management System Install (2014)
Well the Q7 is pretty cavernous in the back, in order to keep it organized on day to day trips with bags I've decided to retrofit the Cargo management system that the Euro versions are optioned with.
Step one was looking at the diagrams and ordering parts:
https://www.audiusaparts.com/ (Had the best prices with no tax, and free shipping)
4L0863555C Left Rail
4L0863556C Right Rail
4L0863575A4PK (2) Black rubber rail filler piece
4L0863183 Left rail support (Goes in mid way)
4L0863184 Right Rail Support (Goes in mid way)
N10517304 Rail bolts (8)
N10507201 Rail trim bolts (9)
4L0860115 Rail distance plate/spacer (6)
4L0861487D9AM Left Cover Trim Black
4L0861488D9AM Right Cover Trim Black
WHT003384 (2) (M8) Cage Nuts for the front of the rails, Or Amazon M8 Cage Nuts
Total:$548.09+/- (cage nut price)
That took about a month of shipping from Germany, end of December - 2 Feb.
One thing I found during the install was that it was never mentioned that the front would need (2) M8 Cage Nuts (WHT003384) or you could order a pack from Amazon (what I ended up doing). I thought from the diagram install it would be pretty straight forward, but the diagram shows the bracket fitting forward towards what I believed would be the very front. However with the Air Suspension tank there... I was stuck trying to figure out what the hell the diagram meant. So I started searching the bracket's part number with google images and came upon a Russian Audi board, and through google translate was able to find out that I needed M8 cage nuts for the front, that even the Audi dealers didn't know about, even over there (they seem to know/ have access to everything overseas obviously ). With that solved, there's only one other spot without a support and thats in the middle of the rail midway where a big chunk of memory like foam sits and apparently runs the length of the bottom trunk trim. Looking at the hole, and the closest nut bracket below, I figured this is where it belongs and plunged the bracket down the hole, rotating it as needed to get it into position. Fit like a champ, so I bolted it down and moved on. I've included a bunch of install pictures, as the rest is self explanatory; for the sake of the worldly internet DIYers out there here you go!

I ordered BMW's sliding cargo brace, since it comes with the straps built in.... Works awesome!

Adaptive Fastening System
I'll pop a picture of it in the Q one of these days.

Macro bump here, but I have a few questions as I start putting this together.
I see that the rails replace the tie downs in the cargo area, so my question is, is there a way to keep the cargo tie downs in conjunction with the rail system? I would like to keep the tie downs as I already have a net from my S4 which fits perfectly.

Once you install the new rails, you lose the original tie downs.
I was fine with that, because I wanted the moveable system like this 4F9860378D and the above BMW bar I picked up.

Shop around and you can find the kit cheaper, I found mine for $80 shipped. The same system is used between the Q7/ Cayenne/ Touareg, just different part numbers.
