Not a problem. This is how Audi does it.

So I need to unplug it every time I park the car?

When you say "hot" are you refering to the fact that it's powered on, or are you refering to the actual physical temp of the socket? Hopefully the former, as the later is definitely not normal. I thought the cig lighter socket turned off when the car goes into "standby" mode when the electronics power down around ~10minutes after you shut off the engine?

For the sake of clarity, is it the actual socket or ornamental plug that is hot? Or is it an accessory power adapter (not OEM equipment) that you have plugged in that is staying hot because it is still getting power even with the ignition off?

Some of the Audis have switched sockets, others don't. Our cars have both.

it has current in it all the time... similar to your sockets at home. they have power but are not using it until an item is plugged in. you do not have to worry about draining the battery there is a meter built in and it cuts off power to accessories once the level dips below a certain threshold. on pre-face lift Q7 you could enable a battery meter in the MMI and if i recall correctly once it dropped down to 75% life it would shut off radio, mmi, lights etc. until you restarted the vehicle.

(a bit off topic but does anyone on here know if the battery level meter may be enabled on mmi-3g+ units? i tried a while back but did not have any success: https://forums.audiworld.com/q7-disc...mi-3g-2845903/ )
