Default Control Module for Lane Change (J769)

Well, where do I start. This has been an on going problem with my 2008 Q7 with side assist. It all started when I got my front windows tinted in December 2015, what happened is that the shop that did it, accidentally let the battery in the car die with all the doors open and dome lights on, etc. given, it was a bad battery that "died" all the time (it has since been replaced with a new battery) but what the shop did is they boosted it, which I thought was fine, but ever since then, the side assist hasn't worked, whenever I push the side assist button over the lock switch on the door, it displays a "Audi Side Assist System Fault" in between the two gauges. Ran a scan, the car had 63 faults. I cleared them, but this one stayed. I've cleaned the car several times through the car wash, I figured it would fix itself but I guess not. Is it possible that when the tint shop jumped my car they fryed the module for the side assist? Any idea where to find this module at a decent price? Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Before finding a module, maybe it all really needs to be recal, and the only place to recal a lane change is Audi. They have to hook up the computer and re align the car to see if it was bad or not.

Might save the hassle and money since you have to go to Audi anyway for a recal.

Thanks for the info, I'll probably just leave it for now until after winter because of all the salt and sand on the bumper. Do you happen to know how much a module costs? Maybe I could find one out of a salvage Q7.

Funny you mention this, I was reading the manual just yesterday regarding the battery and charging it, and it states never to jump start the car as electronics damage can occur. Sorry this happened through no fault of your own; the body shop should pay for it.

When we bought our Q7 last year, we knew it had a non-functioning side assist. I eventually had it replaced at the dealer, which cost $450 for parts and $670 labor. I asked my trusted independent mechanic if he could replace it, but he could not due to the calibration equipment that only the dealer had.

BTW, the quote that the seller had gotten from his local Audi dealership was $597 for parts and $400 labor, so your experience may vary.

Oh jeez. Pretty expensive. I'm not even sure if it would be worth it, I never used it before it stopped working, lol. Starting to think ill just leave it broken.
