Convenience Key Seat Memory not working

Convenience Key Seat Memory not working
I recently purchased a 2010 Q7 4.2L, which comes with the convenience key. While trying to set up the seat memory feature on the key, I noticed I can't access the option in the MMI to turn the feature on/off, as described in the manual. Instead it just shows a message "Remote control key memory is not active", but there is nothing to select, I can only back out of the menu. Anyone else had this issue and/or know how to get it working?

beside where you can choose your saved seat position (the memory buttons), there is a button that has on/off on it. push the button to have it on ON and that makes the seat memory feature work. Hope this helps

It's not that the seat memory on the door doesn't work, have that working fine (on/off button is set to on), it's the seat memory tied to the key fob that isn't working because for some reason when I go to the menu in the MMI for enabling the feature, instead of having the option to turn it on/off, it just shows the message I referenced above, with no option to do anything about it.
