Diesel Additives / Stations
Anybody use any diesel additives? There are a few out there that help lubricate, add cetane, clean injectors etc... I just purchased Diesel Kleen as it had great reviews, not sure if it will have any positive effects on mpg but it can't hurt. Will post an update.
On another note, do any gas stations have better diesel than others? I know some gas stations use better detergents than others for gasoline, haven't found anything about diesel. Wawa has a sticker on their pump that their diesel is minimum 40 Cetane, is this standard?

Sadly 40 is pretty much it in my area. Varies a bit by season with summer being better than winter. 50 cetane would be better. Don't know about additives.

Yeah, 40 cetane is sort of the base level in the USA. I think some areas of TX and CA have 50 cetane as their standard.
Cetane is not analogous to octane; don't get hung up on that. You worry about cetane when having cold weather starting issues. We all can worry about gasoline contamination, water and poor lubricity of the diesel fuel. And always keep a receipt when purchasing diesel fuel.

I use theDiesel Kleen in the white bottle regularly in the winter and sometimes in the summer if I remember. I also keep a bottle of the Diesel Kleen 911 (red bottle) in the trunk during the winter as added comfort if things turn really cold.
