Default DieselGate update.... for those of us with TDI's V6 3.0

Gang,

I got my 7th Audi a Q7 s-line prestige TDI in January of last year and love it.

However, I'm curious to know if anyone else have been contacted by AOA or their dealer about the dieselgate and subsequent fix. I've read that some dealers were contacting owners of the effected vehicle and doing the same as VW with the 1000 loyalty offering (500 in customer cash @ their dealership & 500 credit for any maintenance work done.

Given this isn't over, and the software or subsequent fix hasn't been finalized, I wanted to see what others have been hearing or reading about our resolution?

TIA.

tentative resolution is a software update. pending approval. the question is will the software knock it into "inspection mode" (read: limp mode) permanently and if so will it rob you of mpg and hp? no idea. as far as compensation goes so far the only ideas that have been thrown around are the $1000 (combined) gift cards. VW drivers are already receiving them and you have to go to the dealer to activate them. supposedly accepting this "gift" does not mean you are not eligible for any class-action lawsuits or individual but i have no idea what they want you to sign when you come int o activate the card.

I don't think I saw this posted here. I'll xpost to the other thread also.

Interesting. Thanks for the note. I've been curious to know when a letter like that would come out... TBC....

Feb 2016: Traded in my 2010 Q7 TDI for a 2015 Q7 TDI with 8,000 Miles (dealer demo). 2010 (68,000 miles) had some DEF pump issues not covered by warranty (duh? Isn't that part of the 100,000 mile emissions warranty?).
Anyway, got a reasonable trade in and they knocked $10,000 off the $62,000 sticker. I did this also because I learned that 2015 is the last year of the 3.0 TDI in Audis. I have to tell you, this 2015 with the new 8 speed transmission is great! At 75 MPH (legal spd limit TX) I got 31 MPG with no tail wind!. Because of the lower gearing, power is amazing even at 10,000 ft in Colorado. I'll be keeping this one! :-)

Also, forgot to tell you TDI guys (and girls): After I traded in the 2010 Q7 TDI, I got a letter from AoA saying I was eligible for a $500.00 use anywhere Visa gift card and $500 gift card for use at any Audio dealer. Also, included a 50,000 roadside service including towing. I luckily got this before they sold the 2010! What a deal!

That's great. I am in Texas too with a 2010 TDI. I only get about 25-26 doing 75mph. That 8 speed transmission is gold.

Read the CARB letter rejecting VW's 3.0 fix. From what i could gather, these cars had the issue on cold start or at idle. Apparently the diesel was loud by sipping little fuel so they needed to add more fuel in order to reduce the noise. They didn't want to do that so by saving the fuel, it increased the NOx output, And they added what they called "acoustic function" which is AKA as the cheat code. Apparently they had this cheat as early as 1999.

Anyway, my position is the same: i could give two ****s about this. 3.0 TDI is the best diesel engine on the market. Needless to say i won't be "fixing" anything on this.

Oh and back to the update: VW proposed a fix to this problem which fell in line with the NOx output regulations but supposedly they failed to demonstrate to the liberals how it affected the car (mpg, power, reliability, etc)

Stay tuned
