Disconnecting battery on A5
#2
I have a similar question: I will be replacing the battery in my 2016 A6. I had a terrible experience in replacing the battery in a 2008 Infiniti. It lost all memory, seats, radio, windows, sunroof, etc. Had to reprogram everything. If I replace the battery in my A6, will I have to re-program all memory items, i.e. seats, radio, mirrors, etc? Do I have to run a small battery to the main systems to keep the memory or can i just disconnect the battery and install a new one?
I've seen some threads about coding. What is that all about and how does it effect the new battery?

Changing your battery is about as simple as making toast. If you prolong the change over then the cars internal battery memory will lose its adaptions but just yank the old one out and fit the new one. Less then 5 mins. If you place and external power source onto the jump post, the cables under the seat will be live and if you manage to touch those together or to ground under your seat you will be in a world of hurt, just leave the power source out of the picture
