Default DX: Ticking sound at idle.

Anyone on here able to diagnose a ticking sound on here? The 3.0t Q7 has a ticking sound from day one that sounds like a woodpecker stuck inside my fuel tank. It is coming from inside the left (driver's side bank) and it is only heard on idle but goes away if you give it a bit of gas. It is a rhythmic ticking and gets louder as the tank gets lower. The vehicle has approximately 400 miles on it and I will be making an appointment once my schedule clears up but wanted to see if anyone else experienced similar. Thanks.

so it sounds like it's coming from the fuel tank and not the engine? you should post a video.
what temperature is it where you live? cold? maybe it could be the fuel lines rattling? strange.

i thought it may be fuel lines rattling but looked underneath and it seems to be coming from inside the fuel tank which makes me think defective fuel pump. directly under the left rear passenger seat.

I regularly visit this site and this is my first post. Iconoclast you are right about the location. I have a 2015 gas model and I had the same symptoms. It was more noticeable when the gas tank was close to empty. The dealer dropped the gas tank and they welded something. It fixed the problem. Sorry I don't have more details on the specific fix. Dealer was great -- they were patient in diagnosing the problem.
