PR-A8U Safe Function...
Does anyone on here know what pr-a8u safe function option is?
On my vehicle it is disabled but I am curious what exactly it is.
Thanks.

hahaha... i enabled it, scanned for codes and nothing came up as "no plausible signal" so i don't think it is hardware related or if it is it doesn't throw a code if it isn't plugged in.
i thought it was pinch protection in the windows but pinch protection works with it enabled or disabled.

On the A8/A6 it is "SAE Rear lights" I have no idea what SAE Rear lights are, but it's what it says the PR-A8U is... Not sure if this helps.. I'm now curious what SAE tail lights are.. Haha

Also appears to be "No Safe Motors" on the wiki... No idea as to what that could possibly mean.

okay so we are getting somewhere... SAE is the organization that set the standards for certain parts on vehicles. i wonder if this is supposed to be enabled if you install euro rear tail lights.

The info on this topic is very vague, I also keep reading that it has something to do with anti theft horn? No clue.. On a positive note, there are a lot of threads that happen to be in Russian, German, Etc... That have info for PR-A8U and SAE lighting.. I need to find a way to translate them. There has to be info somewhere online about this. So far the only luck I've had is by searching "PR-A8U" on Google.

i figured it out... i was able to disable the lower marker lights in the rear by enabling that and disabling NAR setting.

Interesting! I wonder if that could be done on a 2008 model. are you going to leave it turned off? It would really clean up the rear end at night, especially once you do e-codes.. :-) I need to get my self a VCDS.. Haha! Don't wanna get off topic, but what's the cheapest VCDS cable?

yep, i am leaving them off. coincidentally it also removed the front marker light as well which i was trying to figure out earlier by changing the regions but it was in a different module.
i only purchase authentic items and directly from rosstech. they're the best source and offer support in case you botch up the coding or need help learning a new platform etc.

Just did this on my 2010. Great finds. Initially when i read this thread i didn't care much for it, but having done it, the Q definitely looks cleaner from the back at night without the bumper marker lights. Same goes for the orange lights on the headlights.
One thing to note: On my 2010, its actually byte 1.
