Homelink Garage Opener
ok so I have had 3 cars that came with the home link (A5, E350, Q7) and have tried it at 3 different residences over the last 5-10 years.
I have only gotten it to work 1 time, and for the life of me I can not get it to program.
I sit there with the book and follow the instructions word for word and even have someone else help and do it to make sure I'm not going crazy.
I have a liftmaster garage door motor with rolling code. Is there an easy way to do this that I am missing? Would love to get rid of the clunky garage door opener on a clip.

Smurf, can you get an alternate set of directions at the HomeLink website. That's what I do when all else fails trying to program the controllers.
(We also have LiftMaster/Chamberlain openers.)

It can be very fussy getting it to work, but I've always been able to do it. Admittedly, a few times there was much cursing and had to put it aside and try again the next weekend, but always got it done in the end.
Follow the steps/instructions exactly. Sometimes you have to have a deliberate slowish pace so the commands have time to "take" before the next step,

I have the homelink + liftmaster combo, and it only works from certain distances, if it doesn't open I have to drive a bit closer to the garage etc, but all in all it's a great feature to have integrated in the car.
Didn't have much trouble programming it, from what I could remember - I simply followed the procedure in the manual.

some garage doors have been harder to get working than others in my experience. The rolling code thing is what makes it difficult. But never failed. Just keep repeating what instructions tell you and eventually it will work

Do the instructions on this page match what you've tried? Even though it's a Genie page, they mention Liftmaster specifics.

I found out that a fresh new battery on the garage door opener works great. A week one will not work.

Audi has by far, the most confusing home link pairing system I've ever used, there are videos on YouTube, that's how I did it. When I did it, it took 4 times to get it right. Crazy confusing.
