Default How to replace a Crankcase Vent Valve (aka PCV)

For the life of me, I cannot find instructions on this, or where it even is. Has anyone ever replaced this part and have any input? I want to replace mine just to eliminate some possible issues I am having. I have an 07 4.3 L

Took about 10 seconds of searching:

https://www.audiworld.com/forums/q7-...noise-2869546/

Didn't know Audi made a 4.3L for the Q7.

Please give us AW's more details so we can also do the repair in the future learning from your tribulations.

in 4.2, oil separator held by two screws. One outlet to breather tube, one to throttle body, one to oil drain tube. No need to remove air intake.

To remove,
1. Take off breather tube by squeeze plastic tabs, then pull off.
2. Remove 2 screws behind oil separator.
3. Carefully push and twist toward fire wall to remove oil separator from throttle body. you'll damage drain tube if you yank oil separator off.
4. Take off drain tube by pry open one time use clamp.

Install new separator with new clamp for drain tube

Great thank you! I just dropped it off at the shop last night. If they try and charge too much for a simple replacement I'll do it myself. Funny I looked all over the top of the engine around the firewall, oil filter housing, could not find it. Thank you again. Oh and I meant 4.2 L not 4.3. That's what I get for not proof reading.

Good luck - let us know how it goes.

What were your original issues just so we know?

hey, how easy is it put the can through that hose? how do you do it? engine on/off? do you just pour can slowly into the hose and then plug in? i am having random misfires with some warmup catalyst efficiency p0420 and sometime p0431 and some rough cold starts sometimes. wondering if that procedure will help and how hard is it to do

Just started having this issue 3 dyas ago, got a letter from Audi today saying that the warranty for the crankcase ventilation valve has been extended to 10 years or 120,000 miles. They will refund costs already incured if you have already paid to have this repaired.
