How strong is the Parking Brakes
I have a habit of engaging the Parking brakes while parking any vehicle. My reasoning behind this is, Parking brakes locks the rear wheel in place, relieving the weight/stress on the transmission in P mode.
I did notice however on this vehicle (2015 Q7 3.0)., after engaging the parking lever by foot., the vehicle still moves a bit and locks to the transmission stop point.
Does this happen to others as well., or is it just that my parking brakes are weak. Please share your experience.
Thanks,
Ravi.

Sounds like you need a parking brake adjustment.

Yeah, at least have things checked for proper functionality.
All three of our cars are firmly locked in place once the parking brake is deployed.

Im my experience the Q7 has one of the strongest e-brakes I've experienced! As noted, the brake is actually a small set of shoes inside the rear disc as opposed to just actuating the disc brake itself.
If you're moving at all and attempt to engage the brake, it locks the tires immediately! I've never tried at higher speed, but rolling slowly (5 mph?) it will whip you and your passengers' heads pretty good if you're not careful!

Thanks for the update, thats good to know. For now, I just readjusted the brake shoes using the adjusting screws inside the rear rotors. As mentioned before the parking brakes just works fine, but nothing exceptional like you just mentioned.
May be next time, when its due for the rotor change, will service the parking brakes with new shoes.
Thanks,
Ravi.
