Default How to tell if Q7 has factory towing package?

New member here looking for a Q7 TDI with plans to tow a travel trailer (likely near or above 5500 lbs fully loaded.)
A bunch of Q7s on market do have hitches, but I want to get the full factory tow package to get the rated tow capacity (6600 lbs).
So if I see a used Q7 how can I tell if it has the full tow package?
I guess Audi dealer could look up. But what if not with Audi dealer?
Thanks!
Paul

Almost all of the ones with a hitch will have the factory package. It’s prohibitively expensive to add this after delivery.

check your PR (options code)

Trailer hitch 1D8 Trailer hitch preparation
or
Trailer hitch 1D6 Trailer hitch

or post your VIN and I check it for you

Very helpful replies, thanks!

To make sure I understand the option codes:
- the 1d8 is the internal factory parts, including cooling upgrades
- the 1d6 is the physical hitch
And I would want both of these.
That correct?

Worry less, the TDI already came with the larger radiator w/bigger trans cooler regardless.. for this engine the only addition the tow package provided was a more powerful radiator fan.. My configuration was after the fact, I've got a 7k GVRW trailer.. does fine, dont come close to overheating.. I dont sweat it, I could source the fan and replace it if it ever became a concern.. Change your trans and diff fluid asap and regularly regardless.

Now what I'd be worried about w/after the fact hitches is lack of wiring, many ppl just put em on for bike racks and didnt get the trailer module or wiring harnesses installed.. or installed some **** aftermarket trailer wiring kit which is garbage and means hacked wiring harnesses.. thats what'll cost yeh.. mine had no wiring, I caught it after they told me it could tow.. made em give me factory tow module and wiring or I was walking.

No,
1d8 was the PR code for cars that had the wiring (main harness) but no actual hitch bar was installed
and the
1d6 is when physical hitch, wiring, control model, etc was installed

Another option is the Stealth Hitch. Stealth Hitches are completely concealed behind the bumper and have a stainless steel latch block. Hitches are invisible until needed. There is no cutting of the bumper and no welding. Rack receivers and ball mounts are attached and removed in seconds without tools. We comply with U.S. and European testing, which carries a higher tow rating!

Not true, I added the receiver, controller and wiring for about $500. Which means it LOOKS like my '07 has factory tow but it does not, and it was not prohibitively expensive. I do not have any of the cooling upgrades at this point. Maybe at some point I will address that, but I don't plan on towing over 5500lbs with the '07. I have the '13 for that duty.
