Install hitch on Q7 with panoramic roof?
Was told by auto parts store and confirmed with a few searches that a hitch is not available for install on Q7s with panoramic roof. I realize they can probably come from the fa tory this way but who has a q7 with Panoramic roof that has added an aftermarket hitch? Seems crazy to me that a vehicle like this can't have one fitted just because of the roof. I realize that there are structural issues associated with towing but for a bike rack I would think there shouldn't be any issues. Any thoughts welcome as I am really bummed right now considering I can't use the utility side of this SUV.

I have an '11 with an added CURT hitch. I guess I should have searched more before I did it (some years ago).
I haven't had a moments worry with it.
Although I had crazy trailer/ball noise in the rear cargo. I had to pull everything out of there and spray sound deaden-er back there to quell it.

My brother's 2010 Q7 has a pano roof and a factory installed hitch. My 2014 didn't come from the factory with the hitch but I installed it afterwards (I also have a pano roof). It was pre-wired with the factory towing package so I'm not sure if your info is correct.

Dont install an aftermarket hitch, get an OEM.. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...it/4l0092101c/
You want the tow module that just plugs in and talks to the can bus, this changes the behavior of your parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, air suspension, rear power gate, traction control, trailer brake controller, etc.. If your splicing into your Q7 wiring harness to install an aftermarket lighting kit your just asking for issues.
Otherwise there is no logical reason a sunroof has anything to do w/towing..

Yes I do!
Don't have air suspension and all that. I only pull a 6x10 utility trailer with at most a Mule on it (1100lbs) plus trailer. I don't have any issues with squatting, or braking and certainly not with accelerating. It hardly even knows its back there. I do take a little hit in MPG but nothing much especially for the number of times per year I pull it.

There is no issue with installing a hitch with the pano roof. I agree with Dreadlocks that the OEM hitch with towing control module gives the most issue free install and integration with the rest of the vehicle.

Thanks for the tips and insight everyone!
I looked at installing the hitch myself before taking it somewhere and there is no cutout in the rear bumper like what I have seen on some other Qs where a hitch was being installed. Will the factory hitch still work in this case? I will try to take some picturesatwr to show you what I mean.

If you remove the rear valence cover and look at the inside there are score marks molded in which outline the area to cut. If you do dealer install they are well versed in this requirement.
