Key locked in ignition
Hey,
Since a few days I've been getting problems to remove the key out of the Audi Q7 (BWJ 2008).
The problem does not always occur, sometimes it does, sometimes it does not. After getting around on a couple of occasions, I can get the key out sometimes.
I have DTC 00166. On the instrument cluster, the message "ignition lock defective, contact workshop" appears. When I switch off the ignition, I can only get the key through the emergency procedure. For clarity, the gears are displayed correctly. The steering column thus works correctly. I hope you have sufficient information with this.

hello Kevingary: can you precise what you mean? Just for your information, I can start the engine and drive. I can open en close the doors. With the spare key I have the same issue. Do you think it is the ignitionkey transponder?

In the meantime I visited an audi garage. He has confirmed that switch E415 (ignition switch) must be replaced.
After replacement I can continue to use my key. There is also no coding. That is why I want to replace this part myself. I have already started looking, it looks like a significant part of the dashboard will be dismantled. Can someone help me with a detailed method? Thanks in advance.
