2012 3.0 tfsi gas mileage
Hi, I've just reached 2k mileages on the car and mpg averaged out to 13.5 mpg using my own calculation at the pump. I get 330 to 360 miles to the tank. I would say that's with 65% city and 35% highway. We've been very easy during the break in period since that's how we drive on a regular basis anyway....my wife and I don't have very heavy feet.
I was thinking the mileage would improve after break in. Can anyone comment on this? Thanks

My suggestion, for what it's worth, it to get on the throttle when you can. I like to punch it on the highway on ramps when the engine is warmed up. At least I've heard that the engines can have carbon build up problems and that can help clean it out.
I drive about 60% city, 40% highway, 2012 Q7 S-Line with 3500 miles on it now.

even by todays petrol engine standards.
i had a 3.0 flat 6 in a subaru tribeca averaging 18 mpg with all urban driving.
lets hope it gets better.

I'm very happy with my mileage (and power) with this newer engine!

My 2012 TFSI Sport (333 hp) is recently averaging 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway with around 10,000 miles on it. The highway cruising is at 80 mph hauling 4 of us and all our luggage and equipment to the ski hill for the weekend.

2011 3.0T w. 15k miles
noticed an improvement from about 16 to 19 after 6k miles on the clock. we're about 80% in town w/ lots of hills. It gets better, but it's still a heavy SUV with a supercharged V6 -TGF 8-speeds!
watch the oil consumption too...
On the road trips we average 24ish. and as others have stated don't trust the calculated consumption - track it yourself for real figures.

It was lower but I wasn't tracking it closely. I have owned so many vehicles from new that I have learned to ignore mileage until I've put at least 10-15k miles on the odo. I did put one long highway trip on it very early on and got similar highway mileage, but I was likely keeping the speeds lower also.
I'm sure my city mileage would be higher if I didn't insist on putting it in "S" mode all the time!!
